1. Shelving Rock Falls
Shelving Rock Falls is approximately 40 minutes from Lake George in Fort Ann. The trail to the falls is wide and easy enough for everyone to enjoy. You will follow the path along a stream until you reach the 50-foot waterfall. After taking the view of the falls, you can continue on the trail to Log Bay and cool off in the water!
2. Auger Falls
Take a quick hike along the Sacandaga River and discover the hidden Auger Falls. The walk to the falls from the parking lot is only half a mile, but the trail is often slippery, so be careful. Once you reach the end, you will be rewarded with fantastic views of the falls and have access to a popular swimming hole.
3. Roaring Brook Falls
Roaring Brook Falls is an impressive 300 feet of cascading water then can be seen right from the road. We recommend stopping for a short hike here on your way to High Falls Gorge. Start at the Roaring Brook Falls trailhead and walk to the base of the falls with a quick half-mile stroll. If you don’t have time for the hike here, you can witness spectacular views of the falls from the road instead.
4. OK Slip Falls
The trail to OK Slip Falls has only been open to the public since 2014, but it has quickly become a popular destination for hikers. Located in the Hudson Gorge Wilderness Area, the hike to the falls is over 6 miles roundtrip. Along the way, you will trek past a mixed forest, ponds, wildflowers, and fungi. The view of the falls at the end is breathtaking and worth the hike if you are up for the challenge!
5. High Falls Gorge
High Falls Gorge is the furthest Adirondack waterfall from Lake George, but it is also the most popular waterfall in the region. The privately-owned nature park includes safe and easy trail access for hikers of all ages and abilities. The walkways will take you to views of four spectacular waterfalls and the AuSable River. We highly recommend High Falls Gorge for families visiting the area.
